The Rangers do not have any big power prospects for the corner spots that are close to being ready. Their top center field candidates are Julio Borbon and Engel Beltre. Neither will play above Class A next year. The outfield is the weakest spot in the organization right now. That is why Torii Hunter and Aaron Rowand, two of the top free-agent center fielders on the market, intrigue the Rangers. Neither would be blocking a homegrown prospect from getting to the major leagues anytime in the next three years. Both would bring stability to one of the most transient positions in the AL. The Rangers have used 12 different opening-day center fielders in 14 seasons at Rangers Ballpark. They have used 44 different starting center fielders. No other AL team has used more than 40 in that span.
