Rockies' owner Charlie Monfort wants to sign Matt Holliday to a longterm contract extension. "There's a time and place for all that," said Holliday as he quietly cleaned out his locker Monday afternoon. "I am not thinking about any of that right now." Holliday is in line to make between $9 million and $10 million in arbitration this winter, doubling his salary after putting together an MVP-caliber season: 36 home runs, .340 average and 137 RBIs, the latter two league bests. He talked Monday night after the game about how much he wanted ownership to keep this team intact. As much as everyone believes Holliday's future is hinged solely on money, a commitment to winning is just as important. "It's up to the front office to make those decisions. But this is a good group of guys," Holliday said. "We aren't just teammates; we are friends."
