The Milwaukee Brewers have another day before being required to make it official but have informed the agent of Geoff Jenkins they will not exercise the $9 million option on the veteran outfielder's contract. Jenkins' contract stipulates the Brewers must exercise either the option or the buyout within 48 hours after completion of the World Series. Due to escalator clauses linked to plate appearances, the buyout increased from the original $500,000 to $1 million. Buying out his contract will make him a free agent, and the Detroit Tigers, among others, supposedly have interest in signing him.
