Moises Alou was all set to retire at the end of last season, but a four-game, late-September series in Milwaukee, in which he went 9-for-18 with three home runs and six RBI, convinced him he could come back and play again this year. Alou is finishing hot again this season. He extended his club-record hitting streak to 30 games last night -- and that has him thinking about playing again in 2008, when he'll turn 42. "I haven't made up my mind, and it's not in my hands," Alou said. "But if I was going to bet on it, I would say that I'm playing next year, and I prefer to be here." The Mets hold a $7.5 million option on Alou for next year, or they could buy him out for $1 million.
