Vicente Padilla of the Rangers and Nick Swisher of the Athletics were suspended Tuesday by Major League Baseball for their roles in an altercation Sunday.
Padilla was suspended seven games for intentionally throwing at Swisher, who was suspended three games for charging the mound. Both players also received undisclosed fines.
The situation occurred in the first inning of Sunday's game, when Padilla hit Swisher with a pitch. Swisher charged the mound, resulting in both teams coming out on the field. Both players were ejected.
Padilla will appeal and is still scheduled to pitch against the Twins on Wednesday.
