Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez cut short a bullpen session Friday night and probably will miss his scheduled start tomorrow in Washington.
Hernandez said he still feels pain in his right foot when he pushes off the mound. Hernandez is able to run and play catch painlessly, but feels it when he throws off a mound.
"Duque is still feeling a little bit of discomfort in his foot, so we're going to see how he feels tomorrow and decide whether he'll pitch [tomorrow]," Willie Randolph said.
Hernandez pitched Tuesday against Atlanta and allowed eight runs in three-plus innings. The foot has bothered Hernandez since Aug. 30 when he started in Philadelphia. Randolph would not discuss who would take Hernandez's place tomorrow, but the likely choices are Mike Pelfrey, who is scheduled to start Wednesday, or Philip Humber.
