Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen confirmed that he would have surgery soon on his left shoulder that will sideline him for the balance of the season. Club sources indicated that the surgery could come as early as Wednesday and that it would be performed in Cincinnati by Dr. Timothy Kremcheck, the Cincinnati Reds' orthopedist who performed surgery to repair a torn labrum in Rolen's shoulder two years ago.
