The Cubs are planning on starting Felix Pie in center in '08, and seem comfortable with Jacque Jones there for the time being. But if they wanted to make a move that could help them in September and pay dividends in future years, center fielder Rocco Baldelli is due to return from a hamstring injury soon and the Devil Rays are content with keeping B.J. Upton in center. Baldelli was a Lou Piniella favorite in Tampa, but is injury-prone and relatively expensive. He makes $750,000 this year and $2.25 million in '08. He has a $6 million option in '09, and a $4 million buyout.
