After talks about a contract extension between Eric Byrnes and the Diamondbacks broke off Wednesday night, the outfielder sounded resigned to the fact that he won't be in Arizona beyond this season. "Is the door closed? No," he said. "But it's barely cracked open." What Byrnes is seeking and what the Diamondbacks were offering apparently were two very different things, and less than a month after the team approached its free-agent-to-be outfielder about a new deal, the sides tabled talks until the end of the season.
