Center fielder Bernie Williams said he felt some improvement in his right shoulder, and a team trainer determined he did not need a magnetic resonance imaging exam. Williams, who jammed the shoulder making a catch in Toronto on Saturday, was able to take soft toss swings before last night's game but had no power and said he needed at least another day before he could swing in a game.
"It doesn't show that I have anything torn, by the test that the trainer did to my shoulder," Williams said. "He doesn't seem to think I have anything to worry about. It's just a deep bruise, I guess. We'll see what happens tomorrow. We're going to keep packing it in ice and getting therapy and try to get it going."
