The Mariners released veteran catcher Pat Borders, who was designated for assignment on July 29. Borders, 42, hit .197 with one home run and seven RBI in 39 games for the Mariners this season. The Mariners currently have two catchers on their roster, Wiki Gonzalez and Yorvit Torrealba.
