In this strange, injury-marred season, here was the one painful moment the Marlins had yet to encounter, the one they privately had to fear the most.
Here was Dontrelle Willis, feel-good face of the franchise, leaving a start against the White Sox due to injury.
"That's it," Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez told his ace Tuesday night as he returned to the dugout after a four-run first inning.
Willis did what he called "a lot of debating" before finally realizing the wisdom of the precautionary move. The Marlins are calling this injury a "tight left forearm," but the tightness runs through the inside of the arm and up through the elbow, Willis said.
