Padres closer Trevor Hoffman notched his 500th save in Wednesday's 5-2 victory over the Dodgers. Hoffman, who has recorded 58 saves against the Dodgers over his 15-year career - the most he has recorded against any team - worked around a double by Nomar Garciaparra in the ninth to reach the milestone. He is now 22 saves ahead Lee Smith on the all-time list and 81 saves ahead of Mariano Rivera on the active saves list.
