Roy Halladay didn't look like a man who underwent an emergency appendectomy only a week ago. On Friday, Toronto's ace was on the field at Citizens Bank Park, smiling and stretching with his Blue Jays teammates. Before that, Halladay played a light round of catch in the outfield -- the second day in a row that the right-hander threw a baseball. After he had his appendix removed on May 11, Halladay was told he'd miss four to six weeks. Playing catch six days after the operation appears to be a sign that Halladay is on schedule. "The one thing about Doc, he's going to do whatever he can to get back and play," Toronto general manager J.P. Ricciardi said while watching the Jays take batting practice before their Interleague game against the Phillies. "If the doctor tells him six weeks, that's a challenge."
