Cleveland Guardians All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez signed a restructured seven-year, $175 million contract extension. The deal adds four years and $106 million to his existing contract, keeping him in Cleveland through 2032.
Ramirez put together another historic campaign for the Guardians in 2025, reaching significant career milestones and continuing his streak as one of the most productive third basemen in baseball. The 32-year-old appeared in 158 games while maintaining a high level of availability and consistency.
He batted .283 with 30 home runs, 85 runs batted in and 44 stolen bases. Ramirez posted an .863 OPS with 168 hits and 103 runs scored while accumulating 5.8 WAR according to Baseball Reference.
The switch-hitter won his sixth career Silver Slugger Award as the top-hitting American League third baseman. He was also selected to the All-MLB First Team for the second consecutive year.
Ramirez finished third in the American League MVP race, marking his ninth career top-10 finish in the voting. Between 2014 and 2025, he accumulated a total of 57.5 bWAR, ranking as the fourth most valuable position player in the major leagues during that 12-season span.
The extension ensures Ramirez will remain the cornerstone of the Guardians' lineup for the foreseeable future. His combination of power, speed and consistency has made him one of the most complete players in baseball over the past decade.
Cleveland has built its competitive window around Ramirez's production at the hot corner. The restructured deal provides financial certainty for both the organization and the player through his age-39 season.
