The New York Mets jumped from ninth to first in updated MLB farm system rankings, valued at $315 million according to prospect evaluator Kiley McDaniel's mid-season assessment following the trade deadline and MLB draft.
McDaniel's rankings incorporate dollar values based on prospect rankings, with the Mets overtaking the Los Angeles Dodgers for the top position. The Mets' system features a top-heavy collection of prospects largely positioned in Triple-A or the major leagues.
Dodgers, Mariners Round Out Top Three
The Los Angeles Dodgers dropped to second place with a $309 million valuation despite maintaining consistent top-10 status over the past five ranking periods. Seattle claimed third position at $302 million, benefiting from strong scouting and development while retaining top-tier prospects.
Pittsburgh made the largest jump, climbing from 20th to fourth place largely due to possessing the sport's top-ranked prospect in Konnor Griffin. The Pirates' $301 million valuation reflects the premium value assigned to elite prospects.
Trade Deadline Reshuffles Rankings
The Minnesota Twins rose to fifth place at $299 million following their deadline teardown, which added young talent while reducing payroll commitments. Milwaukee maintained sixth position despite graduating multiple prospects to the majors this season.
Several organizations experienced significant movement due to prospect graduations and trades. The Chicago White Sox fell from second to 20th place after losing prospect eligibility for shortstop Colson Montgomery and other key players.
The San Diego Padres dropped to last place with just $61 million in prospect value after trading 20 prospects over the past two deadlines. Houston remained near the bottom at 29th position, continuing their focus on major league competitiveness.
