The Chicago Cubs are planning to give Christopher Morel time at first base in winter ball this offseason, according to a report.

Morel has impressed with his power at the plate but has yet to settle on a defensive home.

Jed Hoyer noted that Morel is a "very capable second baseman," but the presence of Nico Hoerner there and Dansby Swanson at shortstop clouds Morel's positional outlook.
