The New York Yankees are shutting down Anthony Rizzo for the remainder of the season.

Rizzo has spent the past month on the injured list while battling post-concussion syndrome.

According to Aaron Boone, Rizzo has made recent cognitive progress but the Yankees don't want to push progress with just a month left in the season.

Rizzo ends the year with a .244/.328/.378 line through 421 plate appearances. He is under contract for another season at $17 million. He's guaranteed at least a $6 million buyout on a $17 million club option for the 2025 campaign.
