More than three years after the Boston Red Sox traded Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the star says he never wanted to leave the club.

Betts was dealt ahead of his walk year in a three-team deal that netted the Red Sox a package including Alex Verdugo, Connor Wong and then-prospect Jeter Downs.

"Even though I wasn't really ready for (the trade to the Dodgers) -- I know people don't believe me but I wanted to stay in Boston my whole career," Betts told former teammate Brock Holt on the "Foul Territory" show. "That was my life. I knew everybody there. it was a short flight to Nashville. It was perfect."

Holt asked Betts if he would have signed an extension with the Red Sox for $365 million -- the same number he received over 12 years from the Dodgers.

Betts said yes, but added that the offer "didn't happen."
