San Diego Padres prospect Ethan Salas made his professional debut on Tuesday with the Low Class-A Lake Elsinore Storm.

He became the first 16-year-old prospect to skip over rookie ball and play in Single-A since Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias in 2013.

Starting the game at designated hitter, Salas doubled in his first pro at-bat. The Padres signed him to a $5.6 million bonus on the first day of the 2023 international amateur signing period.
