No definitive word has come from the extended discussions between cable companies and Major League Baseball over a potential deal to carry the Extra Innings package of out-of-market games.
It seems that negotiations are continuing at this hour which, if the case, could be a good sign that progress has been made toward consummating an agreement.
Bob DuPuy, MLB's chief operating officer, told the media that the parties were still talking but indicated that the end is near. "It won't go on indefinitely," he said.
If an agreement with the cable companies is not reached, DirecTV would become the exclusive carrier of Extra Innings under a previous 7-year, $700 million deal with MLB.
Stay tuned.
