Bryce Harper continues to work his way back from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last November.

Initially expected to be out through the All-Star break, Harper appears to be getting closer and closer to a return. The Phillies indicated recently that sliding is the biggest hurdle for Harper to return.

According to a report, Harper approached the Phillies about playing first base at some point after his return to the active roster. Playing first wouldn't get him back into the lineup faster, he'll still DH before throwing, but the move could help the club down the stretch with Rhys Hoskins likely lost for the season.

First base would also put less pressure on Harper's surgically repaired throwing arm than right field would.
