The Philadelphia Phillies have signed Rob Thomson to a two-year deal through 2024, removing the interim tag from his managerial title.

Thomson took over after Joe Girardi was fired in June and led the Phillies to a 65-46 record and the club's first postseason appearance since 2011.

The Phillies then swept the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Wild Card Series.

"I could not be prouder of the group of players, coaches and staff that have made this all possible," Thomson, 59, said in a statement. "This is a great group, one that has shown resiliency and overcome adversity all season to get us where we are today. I am honored and humbled to continue as manager of this club."
