Bryce Harper homered twice in his first rehab game with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday night.

It was the first time Harper faced live pitching in almost two months.

The reigning National League MVP hasn't played since breaking his left thumb on June 25. Harper's original plan was to play with the Triple-A club through Saturday, then take Sunday off.

"Tonight was great, right?" Harper said. "But at the same time, I need the at-bats, I need to be able to see pitches, different guys, different angles, understanding how my body's going to react, what my thumb's going to be like."
