The New York Mets are calling up third baseman Brett Baty, one of the top prospects in baseball, to help stem the tide of injuries to their infield in recent days, sources familiar with the move told ESPN.

Baty, 22, is expected to fly to Atlanta, where the Mets will play the second game of a four-game series Tuesday night. They placed infielder Luis Guillorme on the injured list Monday with a groin strain that will sideline him for more than a month, and Eduardo Escobar could join him on the injured list with a strained oblique.
