The Chicago White Sox have placed Tim Anderson on the injured list with a strained right groin.

Anderson is expected to miss three weeks.

"The good news is that it could be worse," Tony La Russa said, "which means that whatever the minimum was -- you know, three weeks and not six weeks -- is realistic, maybe. He heals fast. It's still three long weeks for us."

Anderson left Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs, going down in the outfield after fielding P.J. Higgins' fifth-inning grounder and throwing to first for the out.
