Genevieve Beacom, a 17-year-old left-hander for the Melbourne Aces, made her Australian Baseball League debut on Friday night.

Beacom made history as the first woman to pitch for a professional team in Australia.

"If anyone tries to push you to do something you don't want to do, push you to softball or play a sport that you 'should' be playing, don't listen," Beacom said after the game.

"Do what you want to do and just know that if you work hard enough, you can definitely make it somewhere. It's not impossible. You can see it can be done."
