The New York Yankees have hired Rachel Balkovec to manage their Low-A affiliate, according to a report.

Balkovec, who joined the Yankees as a Minor League hitting coach in November 2019, will lead the Tampa Tarpons.

She becomes the first female manager in affiliated professional baseball.

Balkovec played softball at Creighton and New Mexico.
