Michael Young's signing could have ramifications on whether the Rangers can re-sign first baseman Mark Teixeira, who will be a free agent after the 2008 season. But both Jon Daniels and Tom Hicks said Young's contract will have no effect on whether that will happen. Teixeira said he was happy to hear Young was locked in long term. "I couldn't think of anyone I'd want to have as the face of the Rangers," Teixeira said. "The fans love him and his teammates love him. It helps that he's a great player."
