Jake Arrieta lasted just 1 2/3 innings against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night as the Chicago Cubs lost their 11th straight game.

After totaling a 2.57 ERA through his first five starts of the season, Arrieta has produced an 8.55 mark over his past 12. The 35-year-old pushed back against the notion that he might be done as an effective starter after his latest disappointing appearance.

"Not even close," Arrieta said. "This sucks. Really, it does. But I'm not going to hang my head. I'm going to continue to work. I'm going to do whatever needs to be done."

The Cubs signed Arrieta to a one-year, $6 million deal this past offseason.
