George Springer started the season on the injured list with a strained left oblique muscle, but the Toronto Blue Jays outfielder is now dealing with tightness in his right quadriceps.

Springer was on track to play on Thursday before feeling the tightness while running the bases.

Charlie Montoyo said Springer ran the bases after taking live batting practice before Tuesday's game.

The Blue Jays signed Springer to a six-year, $150 million deal during the offseason.

Montoyo said the Blue Jays were still gathering information on Springer's quad and waiting for the results of an MRI. He didn't know the severity of the additional soft-tissue issue.
