Nolan Arenado has opt-outs in his contract after the 2021 and 2022 seasons, but his presence with the St. Louis Cardinals may cause one of the club's top prospects to switch positions.

Nolan Gorman, 20, was the 19th overall pick in 2018 and considered one of baseball's best young prospects.

A third baseman, Gorman's path to the Major Leagues is now blocked by the trade for Arenado. Gorman played second in a simulated game for the first time this spring on Tuesday.
