The Tampa Bay Rays have designated Hunter Renfroe for assignment, helping clear room on the team's 40-man roster.

Renfroe, 28, appeared in 42 games with 34 starts during the pandemic-shortened regular season.

The Rays acquired Renfroe from the San Diego Padres last offseason, sending outfielder Tommy Pham and infielder Jake Cronenworth to the Padres.
