Major League Baseball will meet on Monday to discuss a proposal to begin the 2020 season that includes an 80-game schedule and a return to play in July.

Teams would only face division rivals and the same geographic division in the other league to keep games regional.

An expanded postseason format would send seven teams to the playoffs per league.

In addition, the designated hitter would be used in the National League to cut down on the wear and tear on pitchers.
