Former Cardinals second baseman Ronnie Belliard is the professional athlete at the center of a federal extortion case, the brother of the accused said Friday. Milo Edwards said the name of his brother, George H. Edwards, 48, of Shiloh, has been smeared while the athlete's was kept secret in court documents. "I want his name in the paper like my family's name is in the paper," Milo Edwards said by phone from California. He accused Belliard of twisting the story. Federal authorities in St. Louis say George Edwards tried to get an athlete to pay $150,000 to keep quiet about a sexual liaison last fall with Edwards' daughter, Laura L. Edwards, which allegedly resulted in a pregnancy.
