The Angels designated catcher Jonathan Lucroy for assignment, the team announced Friday.

The move comes as catcher Max Stassi reported to the team after being acquired from the Astros at the trade deadline Wednesday.

A two-time All-Star, Lucroy was hitting .242 with seven homers and 30 RBIs in 74 games this season.
