The Minnesota Twins are shuffling their bullpen, designating Blake Parker for assignment.

Before Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees, they also sent Kohl Stewart to Triple-A Rochester and promoted Devin Smeltzer and Carlos Torres from the International League club.

Parker had a 4.21 ERA in 37 games. He signed a one-year, $1.8 million deal with the Twins in the offseason.

He is the fourth reliever the Twins have dumped this month. Adalberto Mejia was eventually claimed off waivers, and Matt Magill and Mike Morin were traded.

"We would have loved to keep every one of those guys. None of them had options," Derek Falvey said. "The reality is, the rules, the way they work in Major League Baseball is that we couldn't retain them by sending them to the minor leagues."
