The Tampa Bay Rays have signed Kevin Cash to a multiyear extension.

The Rays had their best season since 2013. They finished third in the American League East with a 90-72 record.

Cash is now signed through 2024, with a club option for the 2025 season.

"Kevin has a long list of positives. ... It's been a joy to see him blossom," general manager Erik Neander said. "He's very deserving of this extension. We're excited for the years ahead."

Cash, 40, had one year remaining on a five-year, $5 million deal he signed when he replaced Joe Maddon after the 2014 season.
