The New York Yankees have acquired A.J. Cole from the Washington Nationals in exchange for cash considerations.

To make room for Cole, the Yankees designated David Hale for assignment.

Cole, 26, was designated by the Nationals recently after a poor start to the season. Originally a fourth-round pick, Cole was dealt to the Oakland Athletics in the Gio Gonzalez deal and then back to the Nationals in the Michael Morse/John Jaso deal.
