During this past weekend's three-game series at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, the Los Angeles Angels asked a small group of fans to quiet down during Shohei Ohtani's at-bats.

Three young female exchange students from Japan were cheering loudly for Ohtani. The request came from the Angels' dugout and not Ohtani himself.

"He heard it, he's thankful for the cheers," said Ippei Mizuhara, Ohtani's interpreter, "but at the plate, he likes to focus and block out the noise."

Ohtani made it clear that the cheers didn't bother him.

"I was aware of that," he said, "but I wasn't the one that asked for that. (The Angels) just did it so everyone could focus at the plate.

"I was thankful for that."
