The Yankees are coming together with utility infielder Miguel Cairo on a one-year contract. The $750,000 deal was first reported by the New York Post on Saturday and has not been officially announced by the team. General manager Brian Cashman had confirmed that re-signing Cairo was "a possibility" in a conference call with reporters. "I'm probably focused more outside the organization right now, so we'll see where it takes me," Cashman said Friday. "Obviously, it's one of our areas of need. I know there [are] excess first basemen who can play shortstop in a pinch, so we'll have to obviously secure somebody that we feel can do that."
