Aaron Judge will get "a couple of days off" to try to shake his slump and get his swing back, Joe Girardi says.

The New York Yankees slugger is in the midst of a long slump. Judge leads the American League with 37 home runs, but his production has dried up lately.

"Try to refresh him and get him going. He's played in a lot of games,'' Girardi said. "He never wants to sit.''

Judge wasn't in the lineup for the Yankees on Monday night against the Cleveland Indians. Girardi said Judge probably will also sit out Tuesday night's game, and the plan is to avoid even using him off the bench.

"I told him today, 'Just take today off. Just take today off and rest your body.' I think that's important. And then we'll get back to work," Girardi said. "I just want him just to take a mental day and a physical day and just rest. Just rest. He hasn't had many of those days and I think in the long run this is going to help us."
