The Cleveland Indians outlasted the Boston Red Sox 5-4 at Progressive Field on Thursday night in Game 1 of the ALDS.

Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the third inning, the Indians were powered by solo home runs off the bats of Roberto Perez, Jason Kipnis and Francisco Lindor.

Sandy Leon homered in the fifth inning to bring the Red Sox to within a run, but Kipnis answered with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning to give Cleveland a cushion.

Brock Holt hit the game's sixth solo shot in the eight inning and the Red Sox put the tying run on base in the top of the ninth, but Cody Allen struck out three in the final frame.

Game 2 of the ALDS will be Friday afternoon at 4:30 PM EST with David Price and Corey Kluber on the mound.
