Major League Baseball is investigating an Oct. 30 domestic violence incident between Aroldis Chapman and his girlfriend, which is holding up a proposed trade of the closer to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers were reportedly on the verge of acquiring Chapman from the Cincinnati Reds for two Minor Leaguers on Monday, but the fate of that deal is now in the hands of MLB.

Walt Jocketty said Monday night that while the deal is not dead, it could take weeks to complete.

Chapman fired eight gunshots in the garage of his Davie, Florida, home and was accused of choking his girlfriend during the Oct. 30 incident.
