The Seattle Mariners, who fired Jack Zduriencik on Friday, plan to have a new general manager in place by early October.

Jeff Kingston, the club's assistant GM, will serve as the head of baseball operations for the time-being.

Seattle would prefer to hire an experienced general manager. Mariners president Kevin Mather has reportedly told Lloyd McClendon that he has full confidence in him as manager.

The Mariners have reportedly reached out to former Colorado Rockies executive Dan O'Dowd.
