The New York Mets will use a six-man starting rotation beginning this week and the approach is expected to last into August.

Dillon Gee will be added to the rotation once he comes off the disabled list, but no one will be dropped to create a place for him.

Dan Warthen said the objective is to have the starting pitchers make roughly 30 instead of the standard 33 starts during the regular season. The goal: to shave season innings totals without having to shut down the pitchers at the end of the season.
