Derek Jeter has announced 2014 will be his final season. Jeter made the announcement on his Facebook page.

Jeter has been shortstop of the New York Yankees since the 1996 season in which he was named American League Rookie of the Year.

Jeter helped lead the Yankees to World Series titles in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2009.

Jeter has been named to 13 All-Star Games and has won five Silver Slugger awards.

The Yankees' final regular season game of 2014 takes place at Fenway Park on September 28.
