Miguel Cabrera may need surgery to repair a tear in his groin that limited his production during the postseason.

Cabrera hit .348 with 44 home runs and 137 RBIs this season, but was bothered by the injury during the final months. He batted .262 with two home runs in 11 postseason games.

Dave Dombrowski said Cabrera was checked by Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia before the playoffs. Cabrera agreed to see Meyers only after the Detroit Tigers promised the third baseman he wouldn't be shut down.
