Carlos Gonzalez has decided not to have surgery on his injured finger.

Gonzalez, who missed the final two months of the season for the Colorado Rockies with a sprained right middle finger, opted against the surgery after playing in instructional-league games last week in Arizona.

"I went to Arizona, and played, and it felt fine," Gonzalez told the Denver Post "It has gotten a lot better. I am going to rest it, and I should be good to go for spring training."

Gonzalez, who turns 28 on Oct. 17, acknowledged that forgoing at this point surgery is a risk.
