Matt Harvey has an optimistic outlook despite learning on Monday that he has a partially torn ligament in his pitching elbow.

The New York Mets right-hander tweeted the following on Tuesday: "Thank you everyone for the kind words and support. I may be done this year, but I will be back next year for April 1."

Mets officials reacted by saying there is no new information available and Harvey's tweet may just be based on optimism.

If Harvey has to undergo Tommy John surgery he would miss most, if not all, of the 2014 season.
